Continuing professional development (CPD) was introduced at BenchMark in the beginning of the academic year 2017. It ensures that our teachers continue to be competent in their profession. It is an ongoing process that keeps pace with the current standards in the teaching field. Well-crafted continuing professional development delivers benefits to the individual in their profession and in the public.

The introduction session of CPD by the Resource Person Mrs. Vineetha (Assistant professor-Unity Women’s College-Manjeri) was conducted on 19/08/2017. The forenoon session covered the following topics.
The session also had a game to understand the different approaches of people to same problem and the strategies which each one takes to solve that problem. The game was then correlated to different class room situations and the teachers found it very useful.
In the afternoon session Mrs. Vineetha spoke to the learning coaches. The learning coaches were given instructions on how to proceed with the CPD process and class observation. In order to have an understanding on different parameters of class observation they were informed to observe their classes within each other and then share their evaluations. The 1st stage of observation which is the pre-observation was conducted on the 1st week of September. Here the classes of primary teachers were observed by the learning coaches in prior, the areas which they feel they are weak. The class observation will be focused more on these weak areas.
The 2nd CPD session focused on class observation and recording of the classes. Live recording of the classes helped the teachers to have an overall evaluation of their own classes. Feedbacks were given to the teachers by the CPD trainer and the learning coaches’ .Teachers got clear idea on the areas of improvement and areas where they are strong.
